Clayton Cottingham's profile

Metals 1 | Explorations

Modules are folded and assembled from a pattern cut-out of tinplate, then held together with U joints.
Tinplate studies
Quick experiment with springs to add resistance and pull back.
Aluminium studies
After some quick studies I found that riveting pieces of rolled aluminum on their curvatures
allow for an interesting movement to occur.
Tracks are added with a wire circle which expands and contracts as the form is squeezed.
Assignment that enforces precision and teaches a variety of metal working processes including
hand filing, drilling, tapping, reaming, counterboring, and countersinking.
